Dutch fruit cooperative introduces new red apple variety

Printable version

FruitMasters is a collective of 400 dedicated members specializing in cultivating hard and soft fruits in the Netherlands. It is renowned for its vast offerings, encompassing conventional and organic fruits, including berries, apples, pears, grapes, and stone fruits.

FruitMasters primarily caters to markets in Europe and overseas, with a notable presence in Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Scandinavia. Their key clientele includes retailers seeking top-quality fruits.

The cooperative recently celebrated the launch of the new apple variety. Initially introduced to the Dutch market, the new red apple is poised for further expansion throughout Europe.

While FruitMasters remains committed to offering exceptional fruits, the cooperative acknowledges the challenges posed by evolving European regulations.

“The regulations in Europe will remain the main difficulty for the growers in the next few years. The problem is that the Netherlands’ climate constantly changes. If the growers want a good output, they should use pesticides anyway. Excessive regulations could potentially endanger the Dutch fruit industry. The balance between sustainable practices and compliance with regulations is a delicate one, and we must work collectively to preserve the industry while nurturing environmentally responsible practices”, says Adriaan Vis, FruitMasters CEO.
