According to the first estimate for the 2023-2024 season by the Cherry Committee of the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile (ASOEX), a total of 95,412,863 million boxes (each with 5 kilos) of cherries will be sent to the world. This figure represents an increase of 15% compared to the previous season's shipments.

 

However, it should be noted that this figure is subject to change as the season progresses, due to variable weather conditions.

 

It is anticipated that a new estimate will be provided in late November.

 

As for the peak of production, it is estimated that it will occur in week 51 of the season. The Committee is working to ensure that shipments are made efficiently both in Chile and abroad. Promotional activities have been carried out in China, as part of Chile Week, which included visits to various markets and meetings with importers and retail representatives. In addition, workshops were organized for representatives of the Chengdu and Shanghai wholesale markets to discuss promotional actions that will support the new cherry season in China.

 

Finally, it is highlighted that the celebration of the Chinese New Year on February 10, 2024 gives the sector more time to make shipments without the pressure experienced last year, when the celebration fell on January 22.
