The season is starting for the IGP Corsican Clementine

Harvested from November to early January, the IGP Corsiacan Clementine is the only French clementine.
 
Its exceptional quality has been officially recognized since 2007 by a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). Its terroir stretches between sea and mountains, along the island's eastern plain. Its terroir is characterized by acidic soil, mild winters, and higher rainfall and humidity than in other Mediterranean production regions. This is what gives the  IGP Corsiacan Clementine its distinctive sugar/acid balance.
 
The  IGP Corsiacan Clementine is picked at optimum ripeness from the tree, and meets a number of criteria, including :
. Size: medium to small, with a maximum diameter of between 46 and 68 mm.
. Bark color: orange-red, with up to 1/5th green epidermis .
. Juice content: minimum 42% . 
. Leaves: the Corsican Clementine must be marketed with 1 to 2 leaves attached to the stalk.
 
The IGP Corsican Clementine is grown on 1,610 hectares by 180 producers; the volume marketed each season is around 33,000 tons.
 
 
Aware of environmental and social issues, Corsican Clementine growers use reasoned methods that respect their land and its ecosystem:
.63% of Corsican PGI Clementine production under GLOBALGAP® certification 
.52% of PGI Corsican Clementine production under HVE (High Environmental Value) certification 
.10% of PGI Corsican Clementine production under Organic Farming certification
