Printable version
Sailing in a pumpkin has become an accomplishment recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. Steve Kueny of Missouri has set a new Guinness World Record by traveling 61.1 kilometers in a giant pumpkin that weighed 547 kilograms. This journey took him nearly 11 hours along the Missouri River.

The journey began at 7:30 a.m. in Kansas City and ended in Napoleon, Missouri, at 6:18 p.m. The trip took him nearly 11 hours. Kueny was accompanied by the Paddle KC paddling club and six boats to ensure his safety on this unusual adventure. The team helped him maintain a steady pace and avoid paddling in the dark.

Steve beat the previous record held by Duane Hansen of Nebraska, who paddled 60.35 kilometers in a lighter 383-kilogram squash last year."
