Berries have largely contributed to the growth of Moroccan exports

Between 2016 and 2021, Moroccan fruit exports have doubled in terms of value and berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) have largely contributed to this success.
 
According to the USDA, the United States Department of Agriculture, which detailed in a report the performance of Moroccan agriculture, between 2016 and 2021 Moroccan fruit exports doubled in value, from 729 million USD to more of 1.5 billion USD. This performance stems from the gains made in berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries), which have accounted for 60% of growth in fruit exports since 2016.
 
.Strawberries: exports, fresh and frozen strawberries, increased from 107 million USD (72,241 tons) in 2016 to 173 million USD (85,136 tons) in 2021.
 
.Blueberries; export volumes have seen continuous growth between 2016 and 2021, nearly quadrupling to over 40,000 tons and increasing in value from USD 71 million to USD 300 million.
 
.Raspberries: Exports have increased sharply between 2016 and 2021, growing by more than 300% to reach more than 252 million USD and quadrupling in volume to reach more than 40,000 tons.
 
The other products exported by Morocco also contributed to this growth, in particular avocados and watermelons which increased less sharply but continuously, as well as mandarins and oranges despite the declines observed over the past 2 years.
