14% increase in Iranian date exports

With 203,763 hectares dedicated to dates and a production of around 1.2 million tonnes of dates, Iran is considered the 2nd date producer in terms of volume and the 5th exporter worldwide.
 
According to TPO (Trade Promotion Organization) data, during the first 7 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-October 22) Iran exported 137,000 tonnes of dates, an increase of +14% per year, compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
Mahmoud Bazari, director general of the TPO Coordination Office, clarified that the main buyers of Iranian dates have been India, France, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, United States, Indonesia, Germany, the Netherlands and Canada.
 
In terms of value, according to Mahmoud Bazari, the increase is +10% compared to the same period of the previous year. Over 1 year, Iran has the capacity to reach 1 billion USD for its date exports according to Rashid Farokhi, director of NAID (National Association of Iranian Dates), who clarified that despite the drought, Iranian production of dates is expected to reach 1.2 million tonnes in the current calendar year (March 21, 2021 - March 20, 2022).
 
 
Iran produces around 1.2 million tonnes of different types of dates on 203,763 hectares of land. The country is considered the 2nd producer in terms of production and cultivated area and the 5th exporter worldwide.
