Printable version
Despite the health situation and its negative effects, Egypt has succeeded in developing its agricultural exports and has just recorded for the period  from January 1 to May 26 an increase of 250,000 tonnes of exported products.

In a recent report, the Ministry of Agriculture said that the volume of agricultural exports between January 1 and May 26 reached 3.3 million tonnes, an increase of 250,000 tonnes compared to the same period in 2020.

Egyptian products went to 160 markets. Among the main exported products are potatoes, onions, strawberries, pomegranates, sweet potatoes, green beans, beets, guava, peppers, mango, garlic and grapes.

In addition, 8,500 tonnes of peaches and 6,500 tonnes of watermelons were exported to the UK, Italy, Russia, Romania, Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Libya and Iraq.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, this increase in exported volumes confirms government support for the sector and rewards the efforts of sector players who have helped to preserve export markets despite the difficult situation linked to the coronavirus.
