Egypt plans to open 6 additional markets
After opening 15 new markets for 28 Egyptian agricultural products over the past 2 seasons, AEC (Agriculture Export Council) plans to open 6 new markets this year.
AEC (Agriculture Export Council) has opened 15 new markets for Egyptian exports in the past 2 seasons: Indonesia, Uruguay, China, Canada, Taiwan, East Timor, India, Myanmar, Turkey, Serbia, Vietnam, Australia, Brazil, Japan and South Africa.
These markets allowed the entry of 28 products from Egypt, mainly garlic, potatoes, citrus fruits, potato seeds, grapes, medicinal and aromatic plants, dates, beets, mangoes, onions and strawberries.
This year AEC plans to open 6 new markets: Philippines, Indonesia, New Zealand, China, Vietnam and Brazil. To export potatoes, citrus, grapes, peanuts, onions, grapefruit, dates and pomegranates.
Market diversification is an important factor for Egyptian professionals. During the recent Fruit Logistica the number of exhibiting companies was 98. Egyptian exports to Europe increased, in the last season, volumes reached 1.16 million tonnes, or 27% of the total volume of exports agricultural, and $769.3 million or 34% of the total value.
