Net increase in value for kiwifruit exports

Regarded as the world's fourth largest producer of kiwifruit, behind China, Italy and New Zealand, Iran recorded a year-on-year increase of $7 million in kiwifruit exports.
 
 
 
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Iran in the last year (ending March 20, 2019) exported nearly 140,000 tons of kiwifruit worth $ 97 million. In the previous year, the value of kiwifruit exports totaled $ 90 million. That's an increase of $ 7 million from one year to the next.
 
 
 
With about 12,400 hectares under cultivation and more than 362,000 tonnes of crops, Iran is considered the 4th largest producer of kiwis, behind China, Italy and New Zealand.
 
 
 
Mazandaran province, located along the coast of the Caspian Sea, is the most important region for kiwifruit production. The region alone exported 90 000 tonnes of kiwifruit, with 300% growth of the previous year.
 
 
 
The destination markets for Iranian kiwis are mainly Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Persian Gulf countries and Central Asian countries, but also European countries, Russia and India.
