Ghana suspends exports to the international market

Printable version
In Ghana the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has imposed a suspension of certain exports to any international market from 1 June 2019 and without limitation.

This export suspension concerns Capsicum, Solanum, Luffa (peppers, berries, squash) and all leafy vegetables. The ministry said the suspension has become necessary because of the high level of local interceptions at exit points, the alarming rate of notifications and new EU directives on the management of pests in certain products.

According to the statement, Ghana has recently emerged from a ban on vegetable exports imposed by the European Union but its products are still strictly controlled. And the authorities want to avoid a ban on all Ghanaian products on the European market.
