For the 2018 season Senegal exported 18,395 tonnes of mangoes, 9.3% more than the previous year and 67% more than the 2013 campaign. In an interview conducted by the Senegal Direct media, Mr. Boubacar Dramé, Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Equipment emphasized that the country is positioning itself as a leader in the ECOWAS region (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo).

According to the Councilor, the country has the potential to supply 50,000 tons of mangoes for export. In addition to the fresh mango exported, the processing activity for a better exploitation of the fruit is not sufficiently exploited, representing less than 1% of the production (3600 tons in 2017).
