In Israel, carrot and potato exports showed a marked increase on previous years.

According to local media quoting Oren Barnea, Chairman of the Israel Vegetable Growers Organization, carrot and potato exports are breaking records this year.

Compared with the previous year, Oren Barnea reported that potato exports had risen from 140,000 tonnes to 200,000 tonnes (+42.86%), with prices to farmers up by +10%. Carrot exports rose from 15,000 tonnes to 50,000 tonnes (+233.33%), with prices to farmers up by +20%.

This good performance seems to be due to the effects of climate change, which caused drought in southern Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy) but led to a wet winter in Israel, which was beneficial for farmers.

In 2020, Israel's vegetable production volume was around 2.3 million tons, destined for fresh consumption on the domestic market, industrial processing and export.
