+ 6.5% increase in value for Zimbabwe's exports

Printable version
Good harvests, which made it possible to increase the quantities sold and the reopening of destination markets, contributed to a good export performance for the first half of 2021.

According to data from ZimTrade, the trade promotion body, Zimbabwe's fruit and vegetable exports totaled USD 33.9 million for the first half of 2021. An increase of + 6.5% compared to the first half of 2020 which had registered 31.8 million USD.

This increase in revenues, according to professionals in the sector, can be explained by various factors: government incentives with financing programs and technical assistance, but also exceptional harvests which have made it possible to increase the quantities marketed. As well as the reopening of international markets which led to sustained demand.

The most exported products by the country during the first half of 2021 were tea, macadamia nuts, citrus fruits, and leguminous vegetables (peas and beans).
