Target $1 billion for Rwanda's agricultural exports

According to a recent report, Rwanda's agricultural exports increased in value by +44% in the financial year 2021-22. By continuing to diversify its export products, Rwanda is now aiming for 1 billion dollars in revenue.
 
According to NAEB (Agricultural Export Development Board) data, for the financial year 2021-22, Rwanda's agricultural exports reached USD 640.9 million. That is an increase of +44% compared to the 444.8 million USD recorded during the previous financial year.
 
During this 2021-22 financial year, export earnings from traditional products (coffee, tea, etc.) increased by +18%, but export earnings from non-traditional products such as fruit and vegetables recorded spectacular increases, with +63% for vegetables and +87% for fruits.
 
Horticulture products (vegetables, fruits, flowers), relatively new products in the country's supply, accounted for 6.7% of total income from agricultural exports.
 
Rwanda will continue to diversify its export products, with the government's goal of reaching USD 1 billion in annual agricultural income by 2024.
