Morocco exported a record volume of citrus fruits

Despite a difficult international context, Moroccan citrus exports recorded a record volume for the 2021/22 campaign, up +40% compared to the previous campaign.
 
The Moroccan media report the data announced by the Ministry of Agriculture. For the 2021/22 campaign, Morocco exported 766,500 tons of citrus fruits. An increase of +40% compared to the previous campaign.
 
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, all citrus fruits performed well during this campaign (from September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022). At the top of exports, small fruits - clementines and mandarins - whose volume totaled 629,300 tonnes, an increase of +40% compared to the previous campaign.
 
 
For oranges, the volume exported increased by +42% compared to the previous campaign. All destinations recorded very satisfactory growth rates, in particular the American market (multiplication by 3) and the African market (multiplication by 2.2).
 
 
The Ministry of Agriculture clarified that total production in Morocco during this 2021/22 campaign reached 2.67 million tonnes of citrus fruits, an increase of +14% compared to the 2020/21 campaign. Citrus production comes mainly (85%) from 4 regions of the country: Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (700,000 tons), Souss-Massa (672,000 tons), Oriental (460,000 tons) and Béni Mellal-Khénifra (436,000 tons). tons).
