Americans will spend $12.2 billion on Halloween

In the United States, according to data from the NRL (National Retail Federation), total spending on Halloween is expected to reach a record 12.2 billion USD, well ahead of last year's record of 10.6 billion USD.

"Consumers will spend an unprecedented 108.24 USD per person, and a record 73% of consumers plan to celebrate Halloween this year, up from 69% last year," said Katherine Cullen, NRF vice president of industry and consumer insight.

Total spending on decorations, which gained popularity during the pandemic and continue to attract consumer interest, is expected to reach 3.9 billion USD. Spending on candy is expected to reach 3.6 billion USD, up from 3.1 billion USD last year.

Halloween is now in 2nd place, just behind Christmas, as a holiday that people celebrate by buying items to decorate their homes and organizing special activities.
