1st refrigerated container ship to export from Caspian Sea ports
Iran produces and exports large volumes of fruit and vegetables. Exports are shipped via ports in the south of the country (Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman) and in the north (Caspian Sea).
According to local media reports, CSSC (Caspian Sea Shipping Company) has launched the 1st refrigerated container ship to transport horticultural produce and citrus fruits from the ports of Amirabad and Bandar Anzali, to the Russian ports of Makhatchkala and Astrakhan.
The target is the Russian market, but other countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan) bordering the Caspian Sea are also importers of fruit and vegetables.
