New record value for Turkish exports

In Turkey, exports of fresh fruit and vegetables rose by 16% in value between January and August 2023.
 
Turkish media are reporting that exports of fresh fruit and vegetables for the period January to August 2023 exceeded USD 2 billion.
 
According to Hayrettin Uçak, President of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, this is the highest figure ever recorded over an 8-month period.
 
He pointed out that, in terms of products, tomatoes led the way with a value of USD 351 million (+34% on an annual basis), mandarins reached USD 229 million (+36%) and cherries USD 214 million (+60%).
 
And in terms of destination countries, Russia is the biggest market, with USD 588 million over the period, followed by Germany with USD 241 million (+42%) and Romania with USD 196 million.
