Egypt is the world's largest exporter of citrus fruit'.

According to the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, Al-Sayed el-Quseir, who made this statement at the Sahara Exhibition event (10-12 September).

At the beginning of July 2023, the Egyptian government published its national export figures. Between 1 January and 5 July 2023, Egypt exported 4.65 million tonnes of citrus fruit. That's 718,896 tonnes more than in the first 7 months of 2022.

This performance suggests that the result at the end of the year will be much higher than in previous years. Citrus fruits remain the No. 1 agricultural product in terms of value. Next come potatoes, onions, grapes, beans and sweet potatoes, in descending order of export volumes in 2023.

Sahara Exhibition was attended by 200 exhibitors from 22 countries. The exhibition enabled Egyptian professionals to discover international innovations in mechanisation to increase productivity.
