Morocco imported around 4,500 tonnes of kiwifruit in 2017, but since then the volume imported has grown considerably.
According to local media, for the whole of 2022 Morocco imported 10,400 tonnes of kiwifruit, and for the 1st quarter of 2023 alone the volume reached 4,800 tonnes. This is the highest level ever recorded and higher than the volume imported during the whole of 2017.
A new record volume of imported kiwifruit is therefore conceivable for the whole of 2023. Generally speaking, the largest volumes are imported by Morocco between the months of February and April.
During the 1st quarter of 2023, the supplier countries were Italy (57% of the total volume imported), Greece (23%), Portugal (11%), Spain (5%) and France (4%). Other supplier countries, at other times of the year, are Chile and New Zealand.
