Strawberry season is looking good in the UK

The start of the 2023 British strawberry season came a little later than last year, but the fruit will be bigger and sweeter than in previous years according to growers.

In the UK, the cooler spring weather resulted in a delay of a few weeks compared to last year for the 1st strawberry harvests. According to British Berry Growers, the strawberries are larger than last year and sweeter.

Domestic production is expected to peak around the 3rd and 4th week of June.

Fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries) have the largest market share of all fruit sold in the UK with 28%.
