Apples: Growth in value for New Zealand exports

In New Zealand the apple season extends from February to October; April, May and June being the peak months for exports.

According to Stats NZ, total apple exports from New Zealand in March 2023 were valued at 99 million NZD (61.6 million USD), an increase of 4.4 million (2.7 million USD) compared to March. 2022.

Thus, despite the damage caused by Hurricane Gabrielle, the value of exports has been satisfactory so far despite the drop in volume.

Over the past 12 months, around 62% of New Zealand's apple exports (by value) came from the port of Napier in the Hawke's Bay region. The ports of Tauranga and Nelson exported 15% and 14% respectively.
