Vietnam exports dragon fruits to more than 40 countries of which China, India, USA, Thailand, Netherlands and Japan are the biggest importers of these Vietnamese fruits

 

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 2 months of 2023 the total export turnover of dragon fruits reached a more than 47 million USD dollars, which is -48.7% compared to in the same period of 2022.

 

China accounts for about 60-70% of Vietnam's total dragon fruit export turnover. But according to industry analysts the demand for imported dragon fruit is decreasing due to the expansion of domestic production. In China, the area in 2021 of dragon fruits reached 67,000 hectares for an annual production estimated at 1.6 million tonnes.

 

Despite the decline observed for dragon fruit, all fruit and vegetable exports posted a satisfactory result. According to the General Department of Customs, in the first 2 months of 2023 Vietnam exported fruits and vegetables worth 564.95 million USD, which is +12.4% compared to the same period in 2022.
