In Jordan, the approach of spring allows an increase in agricultural production but the increase in water consumption remains a concern.
According to local media, producers in the Jordan Valley believe that the rise in temperature is leading to an increase in agricultural production. Especially with a surplus of potatoes on the markets.
But this rise in temperature leads to a higher rate of evaporation which will cause an even greater need for irrigation, warns SAA (Sustainable Agriculture Association).
The agricultural sector consumes 50% of the water resources available in the country, according to the Ministry of Water.
