Objective 5 billion USD in 2025 for fruit exports

In Vietnam, fruit and vegetable exports reached USD 3.34 billion in 2022. The goal is to reach a turnover of more than USD 5 billion in 2025.
 
To achieve this goal, a key fruit tree development project has been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture. With the aim of increasing areas from the current 960,000 hectares to 1.2 million hectares by 2025. Production would increase from 11 to 12 million tonnes today to 14 million tonnes for fruits deemed 'key '.
 
These fruits considered 'key' are: dragon fruit, mango, banana, lychee, longan, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, rambutan, durian, jackfruit, passion fruit, avocado and atte (or apple-cinnamon).
 
For export, it is also important to increase the market share of Vietnamese fruits in China where Vietnamese fruits represent only 7.15% of the market share, against 45.02% for Thailand and 16.8% for Chili. Currently 11 Vietnamese fruits are allowed to be imported into China: dragon fruit, watermelon, lychee, longan, banana, mango, jackfruit, rambutan, mangosteen, passion fruit and durian.
