The year 2022 will not be considered a great vintage for fruits and vegetables in Vietnam, with a negative variation for exports and a positive variation for imports.
According to the General Department of Customs, in 2022 fruit and vegetable exports reached USD 3.34 billion, or -6.6% compared to 2021. Fruit and vegetable imports reached USD 2.02 billion, or + 35% compared to 2021.
.Exports: China is the leading market for Vietnamese products, but the "Zero COVID-19" policy implemented by the Chinese authorities has reduced Vietnamese shipments, which only achieved 1.53 billion USD, i.e. -22% compared to 2021.
The main markets for Vietnamese exports in 2022 were China, United States, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong, Laos.
.Imports: fruit turnover accounted for 80% of the total. The apple is the most imported fruit, reaching in value 257 million USD, or +46% compared to 2021, mainly from New Zealand, China, the United States.
The main suppliers of Vietnamese imports in 2022 were China, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand.
