New very positive result for Cameroon whose volume of bananas exported in 2022 increased by +8.79% compared to 2021
According to Assobacam (Cameroon Banana Association) data, in 2022 the country exported 216,103 tonnes, or +8.79% compared to the 198,634 tonnes exported in 2021.
This increase is explained by the progress of the 2 main operators in the sector: PHP (Plantations du Haut Penja) exported 179,347 tonnes of bananas in 2022 against 167,534 tonnes in 2021; CDC (Cameroon development corporation) exported 21,224 tonnes of bananas in 2022, compared to 14,321 tonnes in 2021.
The 3rd operator in the sector, BPL (Boh Plantations) posted a negative result, with 15,532 tonnes of bananas exported in 2022, against 16,779 tonnes exported in 2021, i.e. a variation of -7.43%.
The main destination of Cameroonian bananas is the European Union.
