Thailand is the world's largest exporter of fresh and canned pineapples with an annual turnover of approximately USD 577 million, accounting for 32% of the global market.

 

During the 38th conference of the cooperative of pineapple growers in the Sam Roi Yod district of Prachuap Khiri Khan, an adviser to the Minister of Agriculture, Alongkorn Ponlaboo announced the establishment in 2023 of a 'metropolis of l 'pineapple' in Prachuap Khiri Khan province to support producers.

 

This 'metropolis' will also extend to the pineapple growing areas of Phetchaburi, Ratchaburi and Kanchanaburi to provide farmers with better government support.

 

According to the adviser more than 1.77 billion tonnes of pineapples were harvested from 73,156 hectares in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Phitsanulok and Rayong in 2022.
