The volume of fruit produced is higher than last year

In Poland, according to the latest estimates from the Central Statistical Office, this year the harvested volume of fruit (apples, pears, plums, peaches, apricots, etc.) is greater than the volume harvested last year.

According to the Polish media, which uses data from the Central Statistics Office, the total fruit and berry harvest in 2022 is estimated at nearly 5.4 million tonnes, or around +6% compared to 2021.

The total apple harvest is likely to exceed the level of 4.2 million tons and will be more than 4% higher than in 2021. The pear harvest is estimated at around 82,000 tons, or +19% compared to 2021. The plum harvest is estimated at around 132,000 tonnes, or +12% compared to 2021. The total peach, apricot and walnut harvest is estimated at around 20,000 tonnes, or +37% compared to 2021.

Periods of drought seem to have affected crops little due to the increasing use of irrigation systems. The late varieties benefited from the favorable climatic conditions observed at the end of August and the first half of September.
