Uruguayan blueberry enters Israeli market

After meeting the requirements established by the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture and the Israeli Plant Protection and Inspection Services (PPIS), at the end of June 2022, the Uruguayan blueberry gained access to the Israeli market, informs the Union of Fruit Producers and Exporters of Uruguay (Upefruy).

Before being exported to this new destination, the berries must pass fumigation treatment and inspections, while Israeli importers must have a permit from PPIS.

In Uruguay, the blueberry season runs from July to December and access to this market comes just in time for local producers and exporters.

It should be noted that each season Uruguay exports 1.500 tons of this berry to the United States and Europe.
