Serbia exports fruits, mainly apples as well as berries. The main destinations are the Balkan countries and Russia, but since the conflict in Ukraine, fruit exports to Russia are more complicated.
According to Branislav Nedimović, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, a new route has been found to export Serbian products to Russia. The products will be shipped via Turkey and some Baltic countries, before being redirected to Russia which is the biggest export market for Serbian apples.
The problem of apple exports has thus been solved, according to the statement to the SBC (Serbian Broadcasting Corporation) made by the minister who also specified that Serbia had exported more strawberries in the last month than in the same period l 'last year.
In the 1st quarter of 2022 Serbian fruit exports increased by 24% compared to the same period of 2021, according to analyst Goran Djakovic. In 2021 Serbia exported fruits for a record amount of EUR 824.1 million, mainly apples, but also raspberries which were the most profitable export fruit as well as blackberries and cherries.
Serbian apples have recently entered new markets such as Egypt, India and Indonesia.
