SPA took over the Trade Map data compiled by ITC (International Trade Center) which ranked Saudi Arabia 1st in the world for date exports in 2021 with a value reaching 1.215 billion SAR (323 million USD). Value that increased by +31% compared to 2020 and +110% compared to 2016. These 2021 exports were shipped to 113 countries worldwide.

 

The palm and date sector is a major element in the national Vision 2030 plan which provides for the development and enhancement of the agricultural sector. In the country the number of palm trees amounts to about 33 million, or 27% of the total number of palm trees in the world.

 

The total value of palms and dates is estimated at around 7.5 billion SAR (1.9 billion USD), or 12% of the agricultural gross product and 0.4% of the non-oil gross product.
