Saudi Arabia is one of the world's largest producers of dates, with over 33 million palm trees in the country. The volume produced by the country is increasing and exports are growing. 

 

According to the Arab News media, date exports grew in value by +7.1% last year to reach SAR 927 million (USD 247 million), and in volume by +17% to reach 215,000 tonnes. The country exported dates to 107 destinations.

 

Programmes set up by the joint actions of the National Center for Palms and Dates (NCPD) and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture aim to develop the date sector. 

 

By encouraging investment, the adoption of the most efficient cultivation and irrigation methods and the latest technologies, to improve production and increase exports. The objective is to make the country the world's leading supplier of dates.
