Good start to the year for Iranian exports
According to IRICA, the Iranian Customs Administration, the country exported around 2.5 million tons of agri-food products in the first 4 months (March 21 to July 22) of the year 2021-22.
In terms of value, these agri-food exports during the period of the first 4 months of the current fiscal year reached a total of 1.7 billion USD. Pistachio tops the table with revenue of $ 279 million, ahead of watermelon with $ 147 million. Tomatoes, apples, potatoes, dates and tomato puree follow.
The majority of these exports went to Iraq, China, Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates
For the 2020-21 fiscal year, agrifood products represented 7.7% of the volume of total exports and 17.6% of the value of the country's total exports. For this fiscal year which ended in March 2021, Iran exported 8.83 million tonnes of agricultural and food products worth 6.21 billion USD. That is, a variation of + 23.57% in volume and a variation of + 5.99% in value compared to the 2019-20 financial year.
