The 1st shipment of Egyptian oranges has arrived in Japan

After almost 25 years of negotiations between Egypt and Japan and an agreement reached in November 2020, the 1st shipment of Egyptian oranges has arrived in Japan.

Egypt’s agriculture ministry said the first shipment of Egyptian oranges arrived in Japan in early April. The cargo passed all inspections at the port of arrival and was found to meet international standards and Japanese requirements.

This entry into Japan can be considered as a clear sign of quality, the Japanese market being one of the most demanding in the world according to CAPQU (Central Administration of Plant Quarantine).

Asia is the main destination for Egyptian oranges. The country has recently become the largest fruit exporter in terms of volume after overtaking rivals Spain and South Africa.
