New estimate revised upwards for South African grape exports
In its 4th harvest estimate, SATI (South African Table Grape Industry) has revised upward its table grape export forecast for the 2020-21 season.
SATI (South African Table Grape Industry) announces in its latest estimate that the industry now expects volumes between 67.2 and 70.9 million boxes (= 4.5 kg).
This 4th estimate is higher than the previous one which indicated a volume of between 65.3 and 69.8 million boxes, as well as the 1st estimate established in October 2020 of 65 to 69.8 million boxes.
The increase in volumes is mainly due to still favorable harvest conditions in the 3 growing areas of the Western Cape region, as well as new high yielding plantations which are now entering full production.
South Africa, during the 2019/20 season, exported 66.15 million boxes (= 4.5 kg). Previously, during the 2018/19 season the country exported 61.13 million boxes and 62.06 million boxes during the 2017/18 season.
