Tunisia sees good prospects for exports to 6 African countries

Tunisia has studied the export potential to ACFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area) markets, 6 of which have good prospects for its agricultural exports.

ONAGRI (National Agricultural Observatory), has studied these markets. For the organization, 6 countries offer potential for Tunisian exports: Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Chad.

Trade with these countries is currently low and their share represented only 0.7% of Tunisia's total exports. However, the high prices of agricultural products and the growth in the standard of living of the populations constitute favorable factors for the increase of Tunisian exports to these countries.

Tunisia exports little to other African countries, except to Libya which imported 12.2% of Tunisian agricultural and agrifood exports and Morocco which imported 5.3%.

Tunisia ratified in June 2020 the ACFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area) agreement, which brings together the 55 countries of the African Union and whose entry into force is scheduled for 2021.
