Egyptian exports to Europe increased
The health crisis which affected Europe had a positive effect on the volumes exported by Egypt.
According to the Fruit & Vegetable Division of the Chamber of Commerce (Cairo), European demand is on the rise and Egypt has increased its exports to Europe, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to official statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture, from the start of the export season until May 17, the volume totaled 2,160,000 tonnes. The main primary products shipped were citrus fruits, potatoes and onions.
According to Egyptian professionals, the national fruit and vegetable market was not affected by the coronavirus crisis. Production continued, volumes were available and at reasonable prices.
