Egypt has successfully opened 4 new markets
The Egyptian agricultural sector does not seem to be affected by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since January the country has opened 4 additional markets for its exports.
For CAAQ (Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine) Egyptian products have entered 4 new markets since January. Exports started to Australia for dates, to New Zealand for oranges, to Brazil for citrus fruits and to Mauritius for potatoes.
According to the organization, agricultural exports in 2020 could reach 5.5 million tonnes compared to 5.4 million tonnes in 2019. Since January, Egypt has exported 1.2 million tonnes of citrus fruits and 550,000 tonnes of apples of land, which is the country's second export crop.
