Production that has jumped 84% in 10 years

In Morocco, the red fruit sector is experiencing good growth, the cultivated areas have doubled in the space of 2 years and the production volume has increased by 84% in 10 years.
 
 
 
According to the data, the production of red fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, etc.) should reach around 197,000 tonnes this year, an increase of 84% compared to 10 years ago. The cultivated area has increased from 3,035 hectares in 2009 to around 9,000 hectares in the past 2 years.
 
 
 
With a total production of 197,000 tonnes, the volume intended for export could reach 140,000 tonnes. Moroccan products have entered new markets but EU countries remain the main destination with 90% of Moroccan exports of red fruits in the past 2 years. The balance was shipped to Asian markets (5%), to the Gulf countries (1.5%) and approximately 3.5% to countries in North America, Africa, South America and from central and eastern Europe.
