The Djibouti-Kampala corridor project is launched
Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda have signed a memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the Djibouti-Addis Ababa-Juba-Kampala road corridor.
The agreement was signed at the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Steering Committee meeting, of which the four signatories are members. The project aims to develop road transport infrastructure linking Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Djibouti and to provide access to the port of Djibouti for landlocked countries.
Feasibility studies have been completed, now remains implementation. With funding from the African Development Bank (ADB), this Djibouti-Addis Ababa-Juba-Kampala corridor is one of four projects planned to increase regional connections and facilitate trade.
