More producers in organic farming
Saudi Arabia continues to invest and support its agriculture, of which more and more producers are becoming organic.
The country invested heavily in the agricultural sector, about $84 billion between 1985 and 2000, which quadrupled national food production. Now the preservation of the environment and natural resources, especially the consumption of irrigated water are paramount and the support of organic production is obvious.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has announced that it has allocated RS 1,617,831 ($431,422) to 165 farmers over the last 8 months as part of the production support plan. biological. The Saudi Organic Farming Society will visit these farms and prepare them for inspection and certification.
In 2000 the number of farms certified organic was only 10. Today, it is several hundred and the areas are also growing (37,000 hectares in 2015).
