New progress for the port of Maputo

In Mozambique the Port of Maputo recorded a new record for freight volumes. In addition to the trade generated by domestic companies, the port is also becoming an important hub for South African trade.

In 2018, the port set a new record with 19.5 million tonnes of processed freight. This represents an increase of 7.14% compared to 2017. Thanks to significant investments and continuous port improvements, the container terminal's processing capacity has increased from 150 000 TEU / year to 250 000 TEU / year.

South African fruit and vegetable companies are choosing to ship larger volumes from the port of Maputo, particularly to the Asian market.

The port, after a new phase of expansion plans to reach a capacity of 450 000 TEU / year.
