A New Year with New expansion plans for KEITT EXPORTERS

      Having finished the good season, Keitt Exporters, one of the Kenyan leading exporter in fruits and vegetable conceived a great expansion plans for this year to ensure the company sustains the market growth and at the same time offers the best quality of fruits.

 

Mr. Dipesh Devraj, Commercial Director of the Company made a point of the season:

 

     “Keitt had an excellent season in the previous year in terms of quality of the fruits & our service levels marked our score cards well. Only negative point we had last year was in May & June when Peru flooded the Europe markets with many containers this was a challenge for the Kenyan industry in general and prices in Europe dropped.  

      However despite all challenges Keitt with our partner in Europe ROVEG are  looking forward to a bigger and better season in Europe. 

Brexit –is still a challenge to undertake and we have aspirations to cap the price inflations.” 

 

       Company already has 3 avocados farms with established nurseries and top quality grafted seedlings, but this year the board has decided to add 2 new farms in the basket which will increase the supply in the coming years.

        All farms are located in different geographical growing zones suitable for the best fruits in Kenya. Company supports many community projects continues improvement by Global gap trainings. Also new avocados specialist grower will bring new technology from Israel for improving the quality of crop from growers and increasing their yields on the same.

       The Company plans to make significant technical changes in all 5 farms to contribute to the best products quality. All nurseries meet international standards and certifications.

 

       Together with an increase of growing base Keitt started construction of its new additional pack house facilities in Thika where it can do a minimum of 60 containers a week with top quality machinery and Capex investment that will be on over 5 acres of new site. This site will also have an Avocado oil plant.

 

     Mangoes varieties also remain important for the Company and it will increase the same on the current site for next year’s season.  At the same time Keitt has been doing vegetables to Europe currently operating at circa 60t per week on exports of French beans & peas from Kenya and in the new facility Kett plans to have a larger separate veg pack house that will have a capacity of pumping out 120t to 150t per week.

      Keitt Exporters is committed to its growers and creating a massive food safety campaign:  “ As you know Kenya has been listed again in EU 5% checks on beans – Keitt ensures the farmers are well taken care of by paying them a good price on product & ensure our spray teams across the growing board follow the PPL programs to the mark, we have a team of 13 certified agronomists across all our growing sites and full technical support team to back them up. We believe on small holder partnerships and this remains our social sustainability pillar on improving livelihoods of the farmers who are under our umbrella”, noted Mr. Devraj
